Wheelchair & Mobility

The right chair, fitted to your body and your day.

From a lightweight manual chair to a custom power wheelchair with tilt, recline and special controls. Our assistive technology professional (ATP) works with you, your therapist and your doctor, then fits the chair and keeps it working.

Is this you?

You might be in the right place if…

You don't need to know the name of the equipment. Tell us what's happening, and we'll help you work out the rest.

  • Walking isn't safe, or possible, for everyday tasks at home.
  • Your current wheelchair doesn't fit anymore, or hurts to sit in.
  • You need tilt, recline, special controls or custom seating.
  • You live with a condition such as spinal cord injury, ALS, MS, cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy.
  • You'd like to get around more independently, at home and out.

Complex rehab

Custom wheelchairs built around one person.

Complex rehab equipment is fitted to a person's body, condition and daily life: custom wheelchairs, seating and positioning, tilt and recline, specialty controls. It takes longer than ordinary equipment because every piece is chosen and justified. We guide you through each step and tell you where things stand.

For adults and children who need more than a standard wheelchair to sit safely, move and protect their skin.

How complex rehab works

From referral to repairs: six steps, and we tell you where things stand.

  1. Referral

Your doctor, therapist or case manager sends the order, or you call us.

  2. Evaluation

A therapist and our ATP assess your body, your routine and your home.

  3. Documentation & insurance

We gather the records and request approval from your plan.

  4. Order & build

Every part is ordered, then checked against the order when it arrives.

  5. Fitting & delivery

We fit the chair to you and show you how everything works.

  6. Repairs & adjustments

We keep it working and adjust it as your needs change.

Nothing is ordered until you've reviewed the build and agreed to it. The insurance step often takes the longest; we tell you what we're waiting on. See how a request moves →

Independence at home

Reach the cabinet, the counter and the conversation.

Options such as power seat elevation raise a seated person to standing-height surfaces, so everyday tasks at home take less help. Our ATP works out with you and your therapist which options fit your body, your home and your goals.

Coverage for each option depends on your plan and your medical records. We check yours and tell you before anything is ordered.

Manual, power or complex rehab

Which kind of chair?

  • Manual: you or a helper push it. Standard or lightweight.
  • Power: a motorized chair for people who can't use a manual chair safely.
  • Complex rehab: custom seating, tilt, recline or special controls, fitted by our ATP.

Plain-language summary of the Medicare rule

What Medicare usually requires for complex rehab equipment

So everyone knows what's needed before the order is sent. Florida Medicaid and other plans have their own rules; we check yours.

For patients and families

  • An in-person visit with your doctor about how you move around at home.
  • An evaluation by a physical or occupational therapist who does not work for us.
  • Our RESNA-certified ATP is directly involved in choosing your chair.
  • A written order before delivery, and often prior authorization from Medicare.
  • We check your home to make sure the chair fits and works there.

You don't have to collect any of this yourself. We request it from your doctor.

For providers and case managers

  • Face-to-face mobility examination by the treating practitioner, and a written order before delivery.
  • Specialty evaluation by a licensed PT or OT with no financial relationship to the supplier, where the policy requires it.
  • Each option and accessory supported in the medical record (seating, tilt/recline, controls).
  • Supplier home assessment before or at delivery, and the ATP's direct, in-person involvement in selection.
