Walking & Balance

Steadier on your feet, at home and out.

If walking feels unsafe or tiring, the right support helps you keep doing everyday things. We help you choose it, check what your insurance needs, and fit it to you.

Is this you?

You might be in the right place if…

You don't need to know the name of the equipment. Tell us what's happening, and we'll help you work out the rest.

  • You hold onto furniture or walls to get around the house.
  • You've fallen, or nearly fallen, in the last few months.
  • Getting to the bathroom or kitchen takes a long time or wears you out.
  • You're recovering from surgery, a fracture or a stroke.
  • You'd like a seat to rest on when you're out walking.

Medicare usually needs

  • Knee brace: you walk and your knee is weak or deformed and needs support; or after a recent knee injury or surgery; or your exam shows the knee is unstable; or for knee arthritis on one side, with an adjustable (unloader) brace you're willing to wear.
  • Ankle-foot brace: you walk, your foot or ankle is weak or deformed and needs support, and the brace can help you function. Night splints: plantar fasciitis, or an ankle contracture that can be corrected with stretching.

Medicare Advantage, Medicaid health plans and employer plans usually follow similar rules, often with approval first. Coverage depends on your plan, your doctor's order and your medical records.
